All this is because we love to travel. The World is so beautiful and it offers almost endless discoveries. I mean, even if you visit the same location and if you are just a bit of an explorer than always you find some new views, places and things you would not expect to be there.

I'm guessing now, that is because of the size of the industry and the great number of competitors on the market we all can benefit from fantastic deals on Flights, hotels or holiday packages. The only issue is you have to do your research or have access to the good source(s) of information.

The Internet comes with the aid and when you use the latest mobile device it is even easier. You just type, let say: 'cheap flights'and almost instantly links to the websites offering deals are displayed. Now, when a deal IS a good deal? Again you need do your research, tediously crawling page after page and compare the prices or you can go to those which do it for you. But there are hundreds of comparison pages too!

To resolve this, I stick to one simple rule: 'bookmark pages I used which provided good service and prices and stick to them!'

Cloudy Sky

I would like to share with you some of my pictures. These are clouds observed above Lewisham, Greenwich and Blackheath. Few of them are quite interesting for their shape, such as resembling UFO ship or a shark.

Clouds form fantastic shapes and figures and with a bit of imagination you can see many figures.

On few pictures you can see something resembling (or maybe not?) two ghosts crossing the rainbow; a big bright light in the middle of the storm cloud (just reflection of the sun light from the opposite side) looking like ... I'm living this to you. Take your time and enjoy. :)

Some pictures were taken with old 2mg pix mobile phone camera because I didn't have anything else at hand but coming storm clouds or sunset were so amazing I had to capture the moment regardless! I'm grateful for such invention.

It was also first time I was able to observe a fairly big storm cloud approaching, passing by at distance and leaving without a drop of rain where I was, see a rainbow and strange shapes. And all this with sun setting down, shining from behind for most of the time! It was spectacular, visual experience, so I hope that you will see/feel it too.

It could be so much easier not to be self-concious, have no self-awareness, taking no responsibility for self-owned life.

Wake up in the morning, go to simple work, have something to eat in the meantime. Go to pub, have a beer, socialize> Comeback home, watch the telly, go to sleep and start over next day.

Sounds familiar? Why always I wanted something lot more sophisticated, why did I study at the uni, why did I learn so much, why did I do so many things?

Now, I feel it is my duty to implement seriously what I said at the beginning. Starting from taking full responsibility for my own life, my actions and my future. Full, I mean becoming a creator of every second of my life knowing that whatever will happen, at any moment I will be the only one to blame because I AM responsible for my creation! This is ... it comes to mind first to say - difficult, but ... this can be done, this is easy (is better to say).

Being positive, grateful, happy and smile most of the time; love people, forgive and see good in them this is a task. See peace on Earth, free of wars, soldiers, guns, violence, just peace and love, cooperation and support - it's a project.

Utopia? NO, we are one, we have one Earth, one Universe, we are the same one energy. We must understand this. We must connect with our ancestors to know what comes next. When it happens all will be clear.

The speed we learn these days is so great, we acquire knowledge in one month what it would take 1000 years 6000 years ago. We can, we still have a chance to become truly powerful, learn unconditional love, preserve the Earth and build new quality of life for everyone.

Limited Trust

This morning I had a long but very creative conversation with my wife.

We talked about responsibilities for our actions and learning from mistakes or I would rather say failures. This is what we fear most to do, not talking about but making one and if it happens many would be willing to 'kill' to hide it or blame some else to escape responsibility.

We are told that making mistakes is wrong, bad and it never ever should take place and also we were punished for making them. For such reasons and pressure most will never admit one. Fear, is our the biggest enemy.

Failure, like few wise people say is part of learning and success, so unavoidable. Nowadays, you can find great variety of books and lecturers related to positive thinking, law of attraction, taking responsibility of life in own hands and so on. And indeed, one can read and listen and read and never change; never find the right words which get to the point of once's mind to trigger understanding that for all our failures only we are responsible. This is not someone or something else, this is us who make mistakes and we fail. If we get to this point that we only are responsible for our failures, than it opens the door for us to learning from them. But how to get there?

How to understand that Mr. Trouble who provided wrong solution is OUR fault? How it is possible that Mr. Employee showed his incompetence is OUR failure? It sounds ridiculous, isn't it? But closer examination of all our thoughts, actions and expectations prove this is true.

If we gave correct and clear information Mr. Trouble could deliver what we wanted and Mr. Employee if we put enough effort to train him properly would do the good job. This can go on and on.

Coming back to the conversation with my wife. While we were discussing those she said: This is similar to when you drive a car, at some point you get to the road crossing and you have green light but a the same time you spotted a lorry closing a bit too fast from the right side. So instead of speeding through you slow down and ... the lorry whizzed inches in front of your bumper. It was the case of a second you have avoided a serious crash just by being reasonable and using limited trust to other road users. The other driver could be drunk or tired or not paying enough attention but it is our responsibility to be alerted and have limited trust, just take a bit care of our own safety. At least, this is us who drove our car.

This is the same in every day situation because life has its own roads full of drunk or distracted drivers and we are driving on those roads. This is why a dose of limited trust can help save us from getting unnecessary bruises or even avoid serious damages.

Of course, knowing what we want (having goals, dreams), being focused and working towards their achievement as well as determination, perseverance, believe and trust in that we can are all undeniable for success. However, I would like to stress again the need for limited trust to 'other drivers'. Many disappointments and frustrations could be omitted by using this.

For me, this nice comparison let me realized my failures which I didn't see that way. Now, I can take another look at them, analyze, draw conclusions, learn and move on.

Networking of any kind whether it will be for business, social or specific like properties is very important. And is useful and interesting and beneficial.

It is difficult not to agree or deny it. Some of us tend to meet online only but fortunately, most uses online media to spread information and meet-up in the real places.

Do you think people are meeting each other more often nowadays than it was before the Internet? Do we meet more people than before? I have no idea but some of you may know the answers.

One thing is certain, meeting other people is paramount if you want your business rolling. At the beginning of some you may do well without but when you want to grow you need more contacts, more knowledge and bigger crew. Of course, you will need more customers too.

Networking can bring you both, so remember those few rules:

Decide what your goal is, what do you want to achieve and stick to it.

Have lots of business cards with you.

Speak with as many NEW people as you can.

Avoid being sucked into endless conversations with those who you have lot of fun. Remember your goal.

Collect business cards and make notes on them (who, what, where met and how he/she can be helpful)

After the event put all contacts you consider useful into a spreadsheet with as many information as you see necessary. This will help you later to recall details.

Follow-up in 3-5 days. Call or email all your contacts, so they will still remember you and repeat this at least once a month thereafter.

You can make friends or customers or business partners in many cases without you even knowing when it happened.

Recently, I was doing a lot of research and internet marketing stuff.
On my way I found few interesting social media sites. One resembles Facebook (look&feel mainly) very much but it has major difference - you can market your businesses via links, business offers and posts. It is called BreezyBuzz. You also can create pages and groups for that purpose. So far in what I said only groups require you to upgrade to Gold member.
You will be able to run blog as well. Anyway, this is a brand new social networking site, free as well as payable. Another difference to Facebook is that you may choose to go Gold and as they offer referral fees earn some cash. So, your monthly fees can be paid off. Isn't it good? Next one is IM Faceplate. This is an online, also brand new profile branding page with business promotion options. You can use it as a personal or business related marketing tool helping you create/extend you brand awareness. Anyone of the above can improve your presence online and help market your business without spending lots of money on advertising but still drive decent traffic. If you do it in combinations with other seasoned and more popular services than your overall results will be much better.

This happens because people are different and this is the best thing of all. Those differences make the NET and the World interesting. This forces individuals to be creative inventors. designers, directors and to be unique. Without this, we would live boring, gray and square lives.

"Money Is King", we know that, but what about IMAGINATION? How would you call this?
Just take the imagination out of creation process and you have ...your gray world.

I'm saying this because I found really amusing making video on XtraNormal. This is one of not too many sites where virtually anyone CAN make a decent marketing video, yet FREE.
You do not have to be pretty or be an actor or even you don't have to use your own voice. What you need is a bit of imagination, creativity, text/dialog or whatever written material and time.

Yes, It has been approved now, my TomasTravel blog is now listed on Blog Catalog!

I got it for a while and it could be listed much earlier. I just assumed that because I added it to Blog Catalog it will be listed but I didn't check it. It was like this for few months but last week I started adding other blogs to this Catalog and I found that this one never was approved.

The reasons and explanation are less important but I think that some notification about the problem could be helpful in the first instance. I mean few months ago. This time when I did changes and re-submitted such notice was sent to me.

What a ... The lesson coming from it is: do your checks and make sure ALL is done properly :)

From this I couldn't rectify it and resubmit for review. On the other hand how something that does not exist could possibly be reviewed?

What is a Blog?

This is a question I was asking myself last night. The reason for this is that this ... blog is NOT a blog and has been rejected as such by BlogCatalog.

I did a search to find the answer to the above question (Google knows everything :)) and I found number of answers and explanations, well thousands to be precise. Here is one I think does explanation very well:

"a blog is a type of website that is usually arranged in chronological order from the most recent ‘post’ (or entry) at the top of the main page to the older entries towards the bottom."

and another one

"From “Web log.” A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is “blogging” and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger“."

I found them on Problogger.Net and the full article can be found here.

So, if this is the case than what is wrong with my blog? It is chronological; it has archives; it is updated by me, the owner; it has comments or at least option to leave them. The subject of a blog ... it can be anything. This one is my personal and I write what is on my mind. One post maybe interesting and another not necessarily for all. Maybe updates are not every day but still it is a form of a personal publishing. So WHY it is not a BLOG?

What criteria it has to fulfill to become a BLOG?

What is your opinion?

What I’m going to say may has nothing to do with ecology or environment but … it helps with wealthy living.

Wealthy living may have immense impact on the environment; both positive or negative. Obviously, it will depend on what one will do with its wealth but I choose thinking positively.

For the last 6 weeks I was involved in rising founds for two largest charities. This work is organized and managed by marketing companies.

The work is ... well, very time consuming. Day begins early at 7:00 AM and finishes at midnight, Monday to Saturday. Also, a lot of walking - you knock every door within street(s) assigned to you. The causes are good, so you can keep your attitude easier. This is important to believe in what you do and have your goals set as well as identify yourself with the type of business you entered.
Otherwise, the work may be very hard and disappointing.

The business model is simple - you start as a field rep. The next step is a leader, nominated by the company owner when basically you do 12 sales in a week on your own. Than you start building your own team and when you have 3 first generation leaders and an average 16 sales per day for two weeks you become a crew leaded with 50% commission rise on your sales. (Yes, this is commission-only work) This is the first step where serious money are coming but you still need to knock the doors and build your team further to get to the assistant ownership role. Here you get additional 20% of he whole office production. This happens when your team reach 5 first generation leaders and sales for two weeks is on daily-average of 32, than you are promoted. The last step is ownership and at this point you incorporate your own company and open new office.
The owner who you was working under and promoted you gives you £15 000 for the start! Big thing!

To get there it may take few years or few months. It depends on your own performance, determination, persistence and a bit of luck too. It takes longer when people who you trained go and you start over. It takes longer if your own results are not the best. You really must like it or being very determined with strong desires for financial freedom to take this path. Of course, the work is stupid simple; you learn a pitch, add to it an enthusiasm and speak to around 100 people daily. You should get 4 sales out of it as it is based on law of averages. It works for some and in most cases. The trouble is to meet this number or fulfill the law.
As in most businesses only very few get to the top and here is no different, however. You learn the system theoretically and in practice and everyone is given equal opportunity to become the owner. The rest is up to you.

This type of work and the office environment does not fit everyone and for many reasons. A loud music, a lot of people speaking (sometimes shouting) at the same time, 'high fives' and constant basic training on topics like attitude, sales, day management, coping with stress, 'NOs' and overcoming negative reactions and many other related to direct sales, even how you should behave, look and stand plus facial expression. Also, permanent repeating and improving your pitch and endless meetings and conference calls. All to keep you busy and 'excited' before going into the field.
For myself, tiring and stressful experience.

But funnily, I was gaining energy back during work itself. The first half-hour was most difficult but later I was doing better and better.

The work part, well you simply knock the doors, speak and relate to people, pitch and sale if at all. Running or walking for few hours and than coming back to the office at around 22:00. Back in office you do some paper work and there is another round of 'excitement' and some who did more then average or more then before ring the bell and 'high-five' with others within common applause. Before you know and when you get back home it is well after 23:00 or even midnight.

Some people have 5-6 sales a day, some comes back with none. The difference is few hundred pounds a week :) and remember - no salary, there is commission only!

I guess that this is one of reasons that many resign, another could be working hours or weather. Yes, weather, remember? it is door-to-door sale and sometimes rains, snows, is freezing or extremely hot.

Krakow

Last week I was in business trip to Krakow.

This is one of oldest and the most beautiful town in Poland. At the time I was there the weather was fantastic with temperatures like in Greece (32C!)
There are number of nice hotels from 3 to 5 stars and hostels for a budget stay.
The historic town centre has a unique Main Market Square with Cloth Hall (Sukiennice) and The St. Mary's Basilica, which must be visited while being in Krakow. Than, you should see The Wawel Castle, where you see the famous Zygmunt Bell in The Wawel Cathedral or you will be better off if you start from the castle, as this takes long time to see it all and after that walk down through the Dragon’s Den to the Main Market. You will find there countless restaurants with local and international cuisine there. My favourite is “Gruzinskie Chachapuri”, just by the St. Mary's Basilica. This is because of its delicious food, great portions (more then you can eat) and very nice and friendly staff. On the beer side, there are many ‘basements’ (yes, basements because in Krakow you drink in those places) and bars serving local beer and other ‘beverages’. In some of them, you can also get fantastic ‘pierogi’ and other staff up to 3 AM! Avery one has its own unique atmosphere and clients. Good time guaranteed.

Of course there are many more tourists’ attractions to see, such as about 6000 historic sites and over 2 mln art works. Out of town you should visit Wieliczka salt mine with outstanding salt sculptures, but bare in mind there is very cold, so take some jacket with you.

Day One - Dinner

We returned to our cabin.

As any other woman, I struggled to decide – how should I dressed-up? After an hour or so, I put on a ‘small black’, black stockings and black highhills. To feel better I put gentle makeup and silver earrings. My man dressed in a black suite, white shirt and deep blue tie, plus of course matching black and shiny shoes. To complete the picture, I took a small black handbag, a bit of powder on the tip of my nose and off we go.

The main restaurant was located at the aft of the ship and between two decks, 4 and 5, so we took a lift to deck 4. At the entrance the head waiter had welcomed and led us to our table. The table was by the window, so we sit down opposite to see the magnificent sunset. There were two other American couples sharing table with us. We exchange greetings and introduced one to another. After a very short while a waiter arrived and greeted us all, introduced himself and passed menus. There was a rich list of choices, all included, except alcoholic drinks and special orders from the bar. This part of menu was served by another waiter, who arrived a moment later.
From this impressive menu we had for the starter frog’s legs, I didn’t have this pleasure before, and for the main course we had langouste. Tomas, my husband took also a soup of some exotic name but very tasty. From the bar we have ordered sparkling water Perrier, our favourite and two glasses of white wine. For the dessert there was again a range of choices, so I had tiramisu and my husband had a chocolate sponge with ice-cream. The coffee finished our dinner.
The food was delicious and very well prepared and presented as you could expect in a luxurious restaurant, no need to mention that all was served perfectly by sympathetic and smiling waiter.

The restaurant was decorated with taste and opulence, the people were all neatly dressed and smooth music played by a music-band was adding a feel of being like in the palace. (Have you seen film Titanic? That it is).

On the other hand, if you prefer something less formal you can choose to have a dinner in more casual but still very comfortable restaurant and have the same menu. However, you need to request this service at the latest after the breakfast. We did this too, just to have a table for two.

My unforgettable holiday – Day One.

Today we are boarding the ship in Dover; it is a day of signing-in and cabin allocation, table choosing in the restaurant and just before leaving a port there is a safety drill. All passengers must be present there. I feel tired and after casual dinner we go straight to bed.

Next morning I woke up and couldn’t recognised the place, where am I? I wipe my eyes and ooh, yes, now I remember! The ship, I am on the ship!
However, you can’t tell, it’s so quiet and the ship is so big and I’m so excited … new adventure awaits us! Ok, now I need to organise my self a bit, so quick shower in a small but comfortable bathroom (of course included). On the left is a shower; in front is a small washing basin with nice mirror above it. There is soap, shampoo, shower gel and even a hair dryer. The white, beautifully soft towels hang on the right and also two white bathrobes are there. Well, even white and soft toilet paper is in place. Hmm, someone took care about every thing and it wasn’t me, what a relief.

After shower, we put on some comfortable cloths and off we go for the first breakfast. Our cabin is one deck below the buffet and just few steps away, so we get there in no time. There is an open buffet, so we can take whatever we want and as much as we can eat. The food is great and variety of options is overwhelming. Everything looks fresh and tasty and I feel like they just smiling to me from any corner. There are hot and cold starters, newly baked rolls and I don know how many other types of bread. Anything for English or continental breakfast or French one or … all you could dream of. I pick up some rolls and take fried eggs, just made for me on the spot. The cook even asks how do I like it, so everything is perfect. We take each a cup coffee and sit at the table by the window.
The sea is calm and deep-dark blue. The sun is also very promising.
Some time later a waiter brings warm cookies, so we take few for the coffee. We take these to the open deck where we can enjoy the scent of the sea. I am so happy.

The first day and the following night are to be on the sea, so we begin discover our new home for the next two weeks. We walk along an open deck. The ship is really huge, over 300 meters long (965 ft) and 11 decks high. It takes 3450 passengers and over 1000 crew!
All around the ship there are signs depicting/describing where you are and where you can get. There are so many places like Spa, casino, theatre, cinema, pools, Jacuzzi, shops, disco, restaurants, lots of drink and coffee bars, playground for kids, jogging track, and God know what else. Oh, there is also an art gallery, just by he shops. There is anything you could need when crossing the Mediterranean Sea.

Every day there is a ship news paper delivered to our cabin with all events, excursions and special attractions for the next day. You can plan though, what to do and what to see. Also, it gives some advice on the ports of call (this is where it stops), what is worth to visit and where to go. The excursions you need to book in advance and pay extra before. They are NOT included. However, this is your choice and you can go on your own whenever you like and discover places.

Now, after about 1 hour walk we take a break and stop by the pizza bar and have one serving each plus a Corona beer with lemon. Wow, it is the best pizza I had in the last months or so! Sitting for a while on Resort Deck and relaxing in the in the afternoon sun we watch children playing in the pool and admiring surrounding us sea. It is wonderful and enjoyable day.
But the time is passing and it is getting late, so we are going back to our cabin. Tonight is a formal dinner, so we need to get dressed … to be continued.

I want cruise, not silly gifts, she said …

Every one of us dreams of something special and romantic. Some admit this, some other decline but I think that any woman had a dream in her childhood about white, beautiful dress in which she looks gorgeous and feels special and for at least one night wants to be the Quinn of the Ball. And after that wonderful night begin a journey of her life. The exceptional journey which she will remember forever and will be able to recall the great memories and feel good again and again.

I think that every woman wants something outstanding to happen in her life, something … like in the movie.
But the choice is up to you. You can get a bunch of useless gifts and go with you partner to Blackpool or board luxury cruise-liner which is like a small but wonderland town and sail across the oceans. This is where you can forget about earthy things such as cleaning, cooking or washing, where each day is different and brings new exciting events.

This is you, who can experience something fantastic with your partner and instead of those gifts decide on a cruise and have memories together, lots of pictures and most importantly the fantastic time. Such journeys put you together or … well I hope you have chosen wisely, so take it before you wedding :). Those emotions, those places, those dinners and music are all yours forever.

Don’t forget, things are wearing out and we tend to not even remember who gave us the 10th cattle or this ugly bed sheets and they anyway end-up on the garbage. However, your dream that came through will stay in your heart and never leave you.

In the moments of your life when you feel sad or tired just recall your journey, the sun, the dress, the bench in the Monet’s gardens in Giverny or walk thorough the Venice at the warmest night that summer. Than make a wish and hope for another journey, even better and again, to BE the Quinn on the Ball, why not?

This is the feature of dreams – they like to come true, so never stop dreaming!

Ula’s way to relax

It was day like every day, now is another common evening. I'm watching a movie on the TV and I’m jealous. She has such a wonderful life … I wish I would have the same. Than, I look again but now I'm in the kitchen and there is a pile of dirty dishes in the sink, the fridge is empty, so I need to do the shopping … tomorrow a bathroom has to be cleaned-up and wc smells again (men). So many things to be done but I’m alone, as always!

Oh, the diner, I need to make something but I have no idea what to do this time? I have no more patience for these cook-book recipes, too many oh! I’m bored and sick of it.

Maybe I should take a holiday? Just for a short while, just a moment of dream-like, get on the cruise and sail somewhere, whenever. Maybe Caribbean or Alaska, I wasn’t there yet, or Mediterranean Sea or Australia or New Zealand? I don’t know, whenever, where anything will be done for you. Where someone will tidy-up your bed and leave a chocolate on the fresh pillow lining, clean-up the bathroom, put fresh, intact white towels and make it smell like a heaven. Then, in the evening, a beautifully dressed, have an exclusive diner with candles and nice company of wealthy people and being served all the time.

Next day, relaxing breakfast on the deck where a warm breeze adds taste to your morning coffee someone else is serving. And food, wonderful and you can eat … as much as you can, no one will comment on it! Think about it, treat your self as you deserve with a touch of luxury! It can have reasonable price too.

And I did it!
Getting on board made all my problems miraculously disappear. I felt like she, she from the screen, I played my new role like in the new life. I danced salsa, swam in the pool, relaxed in Jacuzzi. Than, theatre, cinema and casino and in every port of call fantastic excursions. I was discovering new places, meeting new people, eating great local food.
I was absolutely happy.

Now women, is your turn. Just do it!

Why Good Vibrations May Protect Mankind

In his book 'Power vs Force', David Hawkins calibrates people's emotions from levels 20 up to 1000. 20 being Shame which is perilously proximate to death. It’s destructive to emotional and psychological health, and makes us prone to physical illness.

At the other end of the scale at 700- 1000 is enlightenment. This is the level of the Great Ones such as Krishna, Buddha and Jesus. It is the peak of the evolutionary consciousness in the human realm.

All levels (which could be classed as vibration levels) below 200 are said to be energy draining, and below integrity. These vary from Guilt (30), Grief (75), Fear (100) up to Pride (175).

People feel positive as they reach Pride level. However Pride feels good only in contrast to the lower levels. Pride is defensive and vulnerable because it’s dependent upon external conditions, without which is can suddenly revert to a lower level.

At the 200 level, power first appears. Courage (200) is the zone of exploration, accomplishment, fortitude, and determination. People at this level put back into the world as much energy as they take; at the lower levels, populations as well as individuals drain energy from society without reciprocating.

Further levels include willingness (310), Acceptance (350) and Love (500).

This level is characterized by the development of a Love that is unconditional, unchanging, and permanent. It doesn’t fluctuate – its source isn’t dependent on external factors. Loving is a state of being. This is the level of true happiness.

Interesting facts from the book -

* The concept and theories behind these experiments were conducted over a 20 year period using a variety of Kinesiology tests and examinations.
* Kinesiology has an almost certain 100% accuracy reading every time. It will always reveal Yes, No, True, and False answers.
* Collective Consciousness: These experiments reveal that there is a higher power that connects everything and everyone.
* Everything calibrates at certain levels from weak to high including books, food, water, clothes, people, animals, buildings, cars, movies, sports, music etc.
* 85% of the human race calibrates below the critical level of 200.
* The overall average level of human consciousness stands at 207.
* Human consciousness was dangling at below the 200 level (190) for many centuries before it suddenly rose up to its present level some time in the mid 1980s. Hence Nostradamus’s end of the world predictions may have been avoided (he made his predictions at a time when human consciousness was at below the 200 level). * The power of the few individuals at the top counterbalances the weakness of the masses.
* 1 individual at level 300 counterbalances 90,000 individuals below level 200
* 1 individual at level 500 counterbalances 750,000 individuals below level 200
* 1 individual at level 700 counterbalances 70 million individuals below level 200

In other words, as a co creator of the world, if you vibrate at 200 and above you will be helping to raise the consciousness of mankind, and be a big part in creating a better world for everyone.

A phone thought

Today I received invitations to get free 7 days in France! The day before this was for Turkey. All looks decent and cool. Is is not too good to be true?
Should I believe it as true and honest when it came from unknown source? What would you do?

And than, when you are asked to claim you free holiday package, they say pay us £20 admin fee but we will refund it later or something. The payment is via credit card. Would you trust this?

I don't, but I need to admit it is very tempting. Maybe you have this sort of experience which you would like to share? Or maybe I'm completely wrong and this IS honest and first class offer for a small price - a survey?

I have a small website. It was initially created to develop a photo agency but life is not always nice and easy, so I left my country and had no time to do anything about it. However, I came back to it today because I realized that it can improve a page ranking and also bring more revenue to my travel agency Tomas Travel. It should be fully operational on 17 June 2009.

How? I have traveled a lot and have 'few' pictures and linking is a good thing. Check my tips earlier.
By the way, the English version of my now photo-gallery is being build and soon will mirror its polish counterpart. :)

Few Tips

1. Google is used as a primary search engine by 91% people in the UK! Bear this in mind when optimizing your site.

2. The title tag <title></title> of you home page is most important for google search engine, so put there keywords which are highly related to your website; i.e. if you manufacture postcards than put 'postcards' there or something similar. Google crawlers will read only first 17 characters, so use them wisely.
The text enclosed by title tag is not visible on the page but it is indexed by google bots.
For each page have a very specific title reflecting its content, as google indexes all pages separately.

3. Use meta tags. Only "keywords" and "description" is checked. No more then 10 keywords and no more the 160 characters in description.

4. For the best results the keywords density within the text should be no greater than 2-10%. If there will be more the crawlers my take it as spam and ignore your page. This site may help you out www.ranks.nl.

5. Have a title on every page encoded as header. This should be between <h1></h1> tags and again, it should reflect the page content.

6. Main keywords should appear in the first paragraph briefly describing the content of you page. Use those keywords as links to you internal or external pages/sites. They also can be bolded to increase ranking of your site.
You can try this free service to search for keywords.

7. Check when google updated information about your page typing in the search box: info: followed by the URL of you site.

8. Flash pages, java scripts and pictures are ignored. Use alt="" tag to add description for you pictures and increase keyword density.

9. Have links to your site. But don't use link farms, this can cause your site to be banned. The best results come if the links are from government or academic or any other high-ranking pages i.e. Wikipedia. It may be difficult to do it but all depends on what your site is about.

10. Be consistent. If you link make sure that the landing page refer to the keyword you used.

11. Finally, make sure that your hosting provider is in the country where you operate. This is crucial if you run a business and want your site to be listed. Imagine, you are decorator working in Leeds, UK and have website on the server in the USA. Anyone searching for a decorator in Leeds will never see your site even if it will be 100% optimized! Eventually, if such town exists there than you know now what will happen. :-)

Of course, this is not a complete list but I think that it contains the most important tips. However, this does not guaranty that your site will be listed on the first search page because there are many other factors (rich businesses, well known brands, keywords used by different people, use of AdWords with Pay-Per-Click to list few) to be taken into consideration but give it a go and find out.
